Advise:    Take hard classes, get good grades, get AP credit, go to a good school (like UGA), dont
do drugs, dont drink, dont get in trouble with the police, do community service, get involved with
something (aka, the youth council), and enjoy high school, it only gets harder. =)
Name:     Aileen Haren
College:  UGA
Major:      Music Education
Sports:    Soccer, Raquetball, Rock Climbing

Advise:    Just as Ghandi said- "Be the change in the world you want to see". Being a member of
the Youth Council serving Fayette County, really gives you a voice to speak up about the
problems and issues that are facing the kids and teens in Fayette County today. Having a voice in
your own community is an extremely important thing for teens, because it gives them an
opportunity to express their concerns and issues that most adults just brush off and not deal
with. You would be surprised at the impact that a small group of high school students can have
on the community, and I encourage all teens to join the YCFC!
Name:     Sara Kahley

Sports:    Skiing, Running, Swimming
Advise:    Study hard, do good in school, and stay out of trouble.  What you do now affects your
future.  Join clubs that can help make a difference.  The Youth Council is a great way to meet and
share your ideas with other teens in your community.

College: Georgia College and State University
Major:      Marketing
Sports:    Tennis Team

Advise:    Enjoy living in such a great county and be thankful...you'll see. Take advantage of the HOPE scholarship, it is the
best way to give something back to your parents for all they have done.

And two of my favorite quotes:

"Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of
happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. (unknown)"

"The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends,
red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called
Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place
called Success"

Name:     Shelby Barker (Former Chair)
College: University of West Georgia
Major:      Secondary Education History
Sports:    Softball, Football, Baseball, Mountain Biking, Tennis
Advise:    "My number one advice is to get active!!!!  Pro-active people fill the society with positive gifts, while in-active
people will simply drain or take from society.  The best way to have a good time in school while actually learning
something about life, is to be apart of something.  Rather it is sports, a school club, church or the Youth Council, JOIN
SOMETHING; this is a huge time in your life and we all need close friends to help us get through those times.

I hope you choose the Youth Council, it taught me a lot about the political process, public speaking, volunteerism and
playing Halo (that is right the Youth Council knows how to have a good time also..hahaha)  Since graduating I have used
these qualities to head up some major programs at my school and at the state level.  I am now the Director for College
Students for Fair Taxation, and I was the Congressional 3rd district chair for Mike Huckabee.  The Youth Council was my
anchor through out high school, where I met many friends, and I am so proud to see it continuing to do even better works.
GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

Major:      Film & Marketing
Sports/Hobbies:  Work behind the scenes of TV and Film

Advise:    Its really easy to loose sight of the good things you have in Peachtree City. Once you get older and you look back
Peachtree City won't seem that bad. Trust me I now live in Los Angeles where people don't even hold the door open for
you. After high school in Peachtree City life doesn't get any easier so enjoy it while it last! Put on your big boy/girl panties
and deal with it. haha.
Just remember to look out for yourself and your friends. Treat people with respect. Its easy to get caught up in drugs and
alcohol but it takes a strong person to realize those aren't the things that will get you out of PTC. Remember that your
beyond blessed to live in nice houses, attend good schools, and have money to do things. THANK YOUR PARENTS! It takes
a really mature young person to realize those things. I was in the Youth Concil for over 4 years and my Grandma would
even come to the meetings(if you know my Grandma she's awesome haha). I met a lot of really interesting people and we
did a lot for the community. We had all sorts of different types of kids but when we all came together we all wanted the
same things. I would love for every single kid to be involved in their town. We have to live in it so why not have a say in
what goes on ?
Go Confidently in the directions of your dreams - Live the life you've imagined. Keep your faith. xoxo
Name:    Caroline Clark
College: Auburn University
Major:     Early Childhood Education
Sports/Hobbies:  Singing, painting, swimming, putting together care packages for deployed
soldiers, and working with children.

Advise:    As cliche as it sounds, work hard in school. Working hard and going to college will open more doors for you than
you could ever have imagined. You will be amazed at the opportunities that present themselves to you and all that the
world has to offer.

But perhaps even more importantly, do whatever it takes to be happy. Live every day to the fullest. And never
underestimate what a smile can do for you and those around you.

"In times of change the learners will inherit the earth, while the knowers will find themselves beautifully equipped to deal
with a world that no longer exists." - Eric Hoffer
